Cold Store Rentals wins prestigious South Coast Business Award
300 people attended a glittering gala dinner on July 6th 2017 to celebrate those who won a South Coast Business Award in 2017. There were loud cheers, as Cold Store Rentals was announced as the winner of the South Coast Small Business of the Year.
The Award was sponsored by Hampshire Chamber of Commerce, and judged by its Chief Executive Maureen Frost, along with fellow judges from Santander Bank and Trethowans Solicitors. It attracted over 30 entries, and is one of the most popular categories in the programme.
In her announcement, Maureen Frost said that all four finalists had demonstrated excellence, and that Cold Store Rentals in particular showed commercial strength, ambitious plans for growth, innovation and a convincing marketing strategy.
The trophy was awarded to MD Steve Prior by Olympic Silver Medallist Roger Black, whilst colleagues Tom Scott and Andrew Morelli shared the stage.
Steve Prior said, “The award process was extremely thorough. The initial entry form probed into specific areas of the business and as a result of passing that stage, once we had been named as one of the four finalists, I was interviewed by Maureen and her colleagues from Santander and Trethowans at our offices.
“The rigour of the process, and the obvious strength of the other three finalists, all of whom were in the innovative IT sector, makes me feel especially proud that Cold Store Rentals was named the winner.”
During the evening, Roger Black gave a rousing talk on his life as an athlete, and shared photographs and video clips of his famous successes. One of the videos showed Roger and team mates John Regis, Derek Redmond and Kriss Akabusi beating the USA in the 4 x 400 metres relay at the Tokyo Championships in 1991. The audience cheered as if it were live footage!
Steve Prior concluded, “Our thanks to the Daily Echo Southampton for the great photographs and coverage; to all the judges, and to Hampshire Chamber of Commerce for sponsoring the award.”
